[Data Update] The Number of Bird Species Unique to Indonesia Increases

In a press release dated 31 May 2018, it was stated that a bird species has been added to the list of protected species and the number has increased from 435 species in 2017 to 436 in 2018. Based on a study conducted by Burung Indonesia, another species joined the list, making a total of 437 species altogether.

The conservation status was also updated. In the period of 2017-2018 there were 15 bird species with changes on conservation status. The current bird conservation status according to the said changes are: 28 species are Critically Endangered, 41 species are Endangered, 91 species are Vulnerable, 244 species Near Threatened, 1355 species are Least Concern, 11 species are Data Deficient and 1 species are Not Evaluated.
