Bird Status Report and Global Biodiversity

BirdLife International publishes a report on efforts to conserve birds and biodiversity during the last decade. The report describes some of the failures as well as success stories of targeted targets already set. Although many targets have not been achieved, there are some progress that can be used as a guide for future frameworks.

The good news is that conservation efforts have managed to prevent the extinction of up to 18 bird species since 2010 and have slowed down the extinction rate by at least 40%. It is known that research on birds has been published more than any other taxonomic group. The birds inspire many companies and individuals to support the conservation of endangered species.

On the other hand, Important Bird and Biodiversity Area/IBA stored 9% of the carbon stock of the world's terrestrial ecosystem and is critical to habitat restoration. 13,000 IBAs which have been successfully identified to date represent sites important for the protection of the bird world.
